I received an e-mail from a school that I applied to online asking me about why i didn't fill out their online interview. The person sent me to the link to the interview and I recognized the email =

It says, "A business you've applied to has asked us to collect information." And the first question asks you for your social security number.

Doesn't that look like typical phishing spam?

Do NOT give your social security number to someone you haven't contacted!

    Call the school and ask.

And if the school really exists, I would let them know.

Definitely a phishing scam. I would let the school district know about it because they may have a security breach. No con should have any public record that you applied to that district.

The school exists and I was contacted through a school email account about the fact that I didn't fill it out.

Though looking at the e-mail again, I've just noticed the person who contacted me is the 9-12 HR director. and I haven't yet applied to any jobs above 6th grade because I'm waiting for my 7-9 instructional add-on to be approved so calling might be a good idea

That sentence does sound a little suspicious, can see why you thought it was spam.
