I wish we had public transportation sometimes! I'm lucky my car go 37 miles per gallon this last time. I am hoping I get that again. BF's isn't so lucky he drives an SUV and work is 36 miles round trip, he is only getting 12 to 15 miles per gallon. He needs to trade that thing in!
Gas as of last night was still 2.69 a gallon.

    $2.57 right now.
havan-I bet you're hurting right now. I guess you didn't leave because of Rita? My neighbors daughter lives there and they left Thursday morning. Traveled 60 miles in 15 hours. They turned around the next day, because they were never going to get where they were going. Then they were told they couldn't get back in. I also heard about a lot of cars running out of gas on the highway, and some stations shutting down and only taking credit cards. Do you think having tankers along the highway would have been a good idea or bad idea for evacuation?

I saw a gas station that had regular for $2.37. That's the lowest I've seen and I was pretty excited! My boyfriend said he filled up my car yesterday for $2.43 and he was pretty happy about that. haha

NM, has a oil refinery in the south part of the state. But our gas average is allegedly $2.4? a gallon. But most of the prices I've seen is between $2.66 and $2.77 a gallon. (my dad paid $2.5? something a gallon today--on the base).

We are down to $2.77, FINALLY!! Unfortunately, I've been driving out of town every other weekend lately to watch cross country meets....that's an extra tank of gas on those weeks. It's killin' me!! :-( (Even though, overall, I'm thrilled we're under $3.00!!!)

Rosieo, tell me about it. I remember back in 1995 my social studies teacher had us write a letter to ourselves. We had to include the price of a gallon of milk and the cost of gas. Gas at the time here was about $1.30 a gal, milk was between $2 and $3 a gallon, now I'm lucky to find it at $3. It is usually $4. Crazy.

I paid $2.36 and was thrilled that $20 gave me a half a tank. I feel for those who use diesel, it doesn't appear to have gone down at all.

(only last year you could easily fill up for .89cents a litre, it has nearly DOUBLED!)
it is a problem everywhere I am afraid!!

I got gas a few days ago for $2.72 and I was thrilled. In my hometown gas was the exact same price at every station, it shocks me that there can be so much of a difference if I just drive an extra mile or two out of my way I'm saving about 7 cents a gallon, and that really adds up

We found gas selling for $2.16 today. We stopped at a Kroger gas station because I have purchased at least $100 worth of groceries this month - so, we got to knock off ten cents from the price.

    Gas at $2.06 a gallon!!

I was just watching "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery Channel. That is such an interesting, informative program. One of the segments was about how to turn used restaurant cooking oil into biodiesel fuel. The guy took used oil from a Mexican restaurant and made it into diesel fuel for his vehicle. He also uses it to heat his garage and house. He makes the fuel in his garage. It costs about 55 cents a gallon! And - the exhaust smells like Mexican food!

Well,I bet after awhile he will either develop a real love for mexican food, or avery strong dislike!! :D Gas prices here in SC Upstate are around $2.39- $2.79. I think my hubby said he got gas for #2.25 today in our little ole' rural town that usually gouges the heck out of the residents.

It's "down" to 2.11 where I live, which is good considering, but I remember back in JUST March of this year I had a cow when I was driving out to Colorado and had to pay 2.05 in Kansas, lol.
