    Hi All,

In Technology era like know, it is very easy to get smart phone. I am also seeing very often in coffee shop our children(in preschool age especially) using these smart phone playing game.

What do you think about this?is there recommended game that also teach education so we as a parent dont need to worry if our children playing these games. Honestly, me as a parent very concern about this especially if games that they download consist of violent.

    Thanks :)

I do think that repetitive viewing of violent or sexually suggestive images changes a child's perceptions of the world around him or her. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to protect a child from this kind of exposure ... So it's really important to have a trusting relationship so the child feels safe asking questions. At least adults can help a child frame the what they see so the child can put things into perspective.

I think parents need to monitor the games the kids download (not let kids download games alone) and keep an eye on the games in general. I also think there should be a limit to how much time they spend on the electronic devices no matter what the game is. There are tons of games that are educational, but whicvh ones depend on your child's age and interests.

My 3 year old loves playing on my iphone. He has his own little folder of kid friendly/educational apps. Puzzles, drawing, and ABC games mostly. I think as long as he doesn't spend too much time sitting around on it, it's fine. :)

Kids cannot get access to an iphone or a computer without an adult coming into the picture somewhere so it is up to the adult to monitor what they have access to. If you are worried about the games they are playing, then why give them access to that particular game...I mean why even make it an option in the first place? There are many good educational apps for iphones and many preschools in my area have already integrated iphones/tablets into their projects with children.

I think a time limit is absolutely necessary. Just today I had a boy tell me four or five times that he was going home to play Wii after school. It was sunny, breezy, and a gorgeous 70 degrees out, and all he could talk about was the Wii!! I made him promise me he would try to go outside too.

What kind of games would parents like to see more of? I am an iPhone developer and would love to hear your ideas. I made a math game for the iphone called Bingo Math if you want to check it out in the appstore.

Thanks for the suggestion, yes during the technology era right right know there must be a limitation using the phone or smart phone. Sometimes i thought playing outside and doing sport is healtier than playing in tablet or phone :(, just my opinion.

There is much research that lots of video games, TV, SMART phones etc. on a child 3 years or under is not good for their brain. Some researchers go as far to say this can increase the probability of getting ADD eventually. I would not recommend these devices for such ages. Play, exploration, being read to by an adult, and interaction with other children and adults are much better for children at this age IMO.

Of course. I don't let them to spend much time with gadgets. I like educational games, like duolingo. I think it's a useful source for learning foreign language while playing. I also appreciate that duolingo customer service made a time schedule for children, so they don't spend too much time in front of a screen.

I fear my nephew is headed this way. He's always on his tablet or playing with an adult's phone. He's only 2 and a half. He was at my house for a few hours last week and my sister gave me a bag with his tablet. She said he would ask for it. Well, guess what? I occupied him with paper, markers, played with my dog, etc. and he didn't even ask for the tablet once. Shocker!!
