My gut tells me no. I don't normally wear bright lipstick. However, I recently bought two bright shades from Revlon's Color burst line. I love them! What I am thinking to do it apply concealar to my lips first and then one coat of the lipstick to dull it down. Thoughts?

I guess it would depend on if you can carry off the look. I couldn't do it. I would look weird in bright lips. LOL

Some can pull it off with no problem. I don't ever wear lipstick so I definitely can't!

If it looks good on you, go for it! If it is more trouble than it is worth, leave it for special away from school. Wish I could, but I am too lazy to stay after that bright color all day.

I don´t think the color looks bad...It´s definitely a fun color..just not sure if it´s work appropriate.

If it isn't all people see when they look at you, what's the problem?

I don't wear much makeup, but I do love all sorts of nail polish and often wear bright or dark lip colors. My girl students get a kick out of it and we often talk makeup, which is great since I relate it directly to our mineral studies.

I say YES...as long as it's not some ultra high glossy lip gloss. A more matte or satin finish lipstick would be alright & don't pair it with a lot of eye makeup.

Oh yeah, I would keep the eye makeup light. I have a light champagne eye color with my lipstick right now. The ones I have are matte (I only have two shades currently).

The ones I have are from this line: http://www.revlon.ca/Revlon-Home/Products/Lips/Lipcolor/Revlon-ColorBurst-Matte-Balm.aspx

Is there a way to upload a pic? I might upload one for you to see then take it down.

It all depends on what color, shade, your coloring and if you could carry that look. If you can carry it outside of the school, you should be able to do so at school, even though it's work.
For example I mostly wear lipliners + lipglosses, which end up looking like lipstick (but feel lighter and more comfortable), and I can pull off any shade of pink, even bright. But I wear lots of colors anyways, so it's nothing unusual. I would however not be able to do red, anywhere in public.

Also consider your clothes: bright makeup with fairly conservative clothes is going to look more toned down and polished than the same makeup with less conservative clothes.

Just a tip....concealer will make the color more bold, as it "blanks out" your natural lip color and allows the true color of the product to show.

I make sure that the rest of my makeup is neutral when I wear a bold lip. That makes it look like "I planned this" rather than "I'm a crazy lady". I think bold lips are fine as long as the rest of the look is toned down, as mollydoll said. My favorite look is a black wrap dress and bright pink lips :)

I think that it could work, depending on many factors including your complexion and clothing choices.

If you're able to upload a picture here, do it. It would be easier to give good feedback knowing what it actually looks like.

I wear a red tinted lip color with certain outfits. My go to color is a tiny bit darker than my natural lip color.

I just love lipsticks, but mine is usually eaten/licked off and gone by 9 AM. :(

I have a few of these that I wear at school. I just put a light layer on instead of darker layers that I might wear out at night. I am pretty young and dress very conservatively at school, so I like a fun lip or nail color to jazz it up :)

I say go for it! As long as your outfit isn't too crazy and you don't do like full on prom make up, I think you are fine!

It depends on your school. Our P is much older and very conservative (she wears low heels, panty hose and long skirts and suits most days) so I'd feel a little uncomfortable in something bright. But that's just me being overly cautious. Since it's not inappropriate (like wearing skin tight clothes or showing lots of cleavage) then I think you're fine. I'd be able to tell you better though if you decided to post the shade or one similar. :)

I think the shade looks duller in this picture. [IMG]

I noticed the intensity of this shade wears off after a little while, making me feel a little more comfortable wearing it at school.

:yeahthat: I also think that this shade goes well with your complexion, hair color and style (loving the light blue polish!). i think you can pull it off. when you said bright I was thinking super, extra bright like neon pink.

You are so sweet! Yes, that is me. I took the pic yesterday to show my sister (in California) my new lipstick shade.

I think the intensity is getting lost in the picture. I am going to upload the pic I have of the other shade. I think the lighting is better and shows the intensity.
