My fiance's father was diagnosed with lung cancer in August of 2004. He had surgery that December to remove 6 ribs and 1/3 of his right lung. He went through chemo and radiation and has been officially cancer-free for about 2 years now. We found out today, though that the doctor found something in his lung again during a routine check up. He's going to his specialist on Monday to find out what the plan is, but my fiance's step mom (who was the one who told us) said that she's not sure there's going to be anything they can do this time. He hasn't seen his specialist yet so I think she's really getting ahead of herself, but she actually went as far as suggesting that we move our wedding (scheduled for June 2008) up and just get married by a justice of the peace so that his dad will be able to be there. My fiance was a total wreck when he got off the phone. Please pray that we get some good news from the doctors on Monday.

Praying for good news and for strength for you, your fiance and his family. I certainly understand what a difficult time this is; is his family close by? Try to stay calm and think positively over the weekend. My thoughts are with you.

Yes, they're close by. We'll actually be going over there tomorrow to have corned beef and cabbage for st. patty's day. I guess the reason why they invited us over was so his dad could talk to him. His step mom told him, though that his dad had some bad news so after sitting and worrying about it for about a half hour he called her back and asked what the bad news was. She told him, but we have to pretend that we don't already know when we go there tomorrow.
