Today was the last day of school for most of our students, and to thank us for a good year, the mom of one sent our staff this cake:

The staff got a kick out of it. We were a little (ok, a LOT shocked by it), but she didn't say anything we weren't all thinking.

That is a different kind of thank you.

    (eyebrows raised, but chuckling)

This is not, one guesses, a helicopter mom.

I have a few parents who would probably like to say the same thing to me at the end of the year--but they probably wouldn't put it on a cake! (I love it, though!)

True, Alice; perhaps the letter kit was out of apostrophes, or perhaps the mom was doing this in some haste.

Teacher Groupie, no... I wouldn't call her a helicopter parent...

I teach at an alternative high school for kids who are mostly between the ages of 17 and 20 and still at least a year away from graduating with their respective classes.

Alisha, it's a cake. Candy letters spell out "Thanks for putting up with my daughters sh**"

I see, bandnerdtx. I hope the parent isn't the polar opposite of a helicopter mom, either...

One of my coworkers submitted it to this site: Cake Wrecks. It's not there yet, but it's a hilarious site!

Her forthrightness... takes the cake. Or is at least the icing on it.

Though her daughter probably finds the whole affair pretty crumby.

TG, her daughter actually MADE the cake! She told us that she had been up, literally, all night making it. (It was delicious, by the way. It had real fruit layered inside of it.)

She couldn't wait for us to see it! She ran around the building gathering up the teachers so that we would go look at it. LOL! Honest!

This story gets funnier every moment. I can't imagine a parent doing that much less involving the daughter and both having such a sense of humor over it.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it!

Do you think the cake had "anything" in it (besides cake)?

After the day we had with some of our grade 8s yesterday, I'm sending this picture to the grade 8 teacher. We should be getting about 15 of those cakes today!

that's awesome. The parents at my school should bake one that says "Thanks for putting up with my sh**" since they helicopter the bejeezus out of us.
