Looking for something to jazz up the day tomorrow in a meaningful way.

One idea I saw used the conversation hearts to create the different types of sentences. (I wonder how many candy hearts do NOT have "G" rated sayings these days??)

I would love to find something for math, we are doing measurement. Please share if you can!

Laura Candler's web site has several cute ideas:

I've done the Valentine Hearts Investigation with my 4th graders last year. But due to time constraints and since it fits with our current topic, we're doing the Valentine Candy Fractions tomorrow.

    Have fun!

You compare area with them-one short fat heart and one long thin one-which would hold more-predict and measure. That might be too easy for 3rd Graders though. They could make coded messages with numbers-maybe even a code you have to multiply and divide to get?

We put our hearts in alphabetical order and I didn't hear anyone shocked at what they said-1st Graders are a little more innocent at this age though.

Get some starbursts and practice nonstandard measurement.
