I've seen a few posts about different classroom crafts people are tackling this summer, so I thought it would be fun to share your favorites here. I am planning to make a ballon wreath for my door (or maybe both doors). I was thinking I would add some school related decorations and maybe wooden letters for my name. http://www.howdoesshe.com/birthday-wreath It looks like a simple enough craft that I may see if some friends want to come and make a craft party of it.
Cute. Very festive =) I just posted a topic on my new blog about a craft I made last night. They're mason jars decorated to go with my rustic beach theme. http://www.lilteachingbytes.com/?p=16
They are adorable and I love the idea of a rustic beach theme. Please be careful with glass in the classroom though. You may want to get it approved with administration so you don't get yourself into any trouble if they break.
I spent yesterday with my new Cricut. Oh, boy, was it fun! I made two tins for my pencils, one for sharpened pencils and one for the dull ones. I also made a book drop for my classroom library. Here are pictures of the final products: https://picasaweb.google.com/102838...authkey=Gv1sRgCJrPsLaO9fLxkAE&feat=directlink
Thanks I'll definitely need to put them somewhere out of the way. @MsG - Love the Book Drop! Is that for school library books or classroom library books?
Thanks! It'll just be for my classroom library books. Although, I may do something similar to keep up with school library books so that we can take them to the library in one container.
What a great idea for BOB! I don't think my 8th grade boys would appreciate it, but it is a great idea esp. since I have a beachy atmosphere in my classroom. Maybe wrapping the jars in clear contact paper would work? Our kids can't carry glass on the bus, so they would have to have a parent pick the jar or the jar and child up after school.
Tasha - this is so cute! Probably takes a couple of hours to complete - in front of TV with a favorite movie on! I think this would work even in 8th grade. Can't put anything on our doors, but I'm sure I could find a place to include it to add a splash of colors. I could search around and find the best colors to go with my beachy look in the classroom. I could see an elementary classroom with this wreath on a board reserved for birthdays. Cuter than a poster!
Yikes, I really need to talk to my admin about these. I hope I can still use them  Well, I must be feeling really creative right now. Take a look at what I worked on tonight. http://www.lilteachingbytes.com/?p=80 Also, these bottles are actually no bigger than my hand. So I'm not as worried about them.
Thanks! I used the Cricut to cut the letters and shapes and used vinyl with sticky backing. You can buy the vinyl at any craft store and then just peel the backing off and stick it on. It was very easy!
Well, it showed up sideways, the loop on the left is the hanger, but I love it. It probably took about 1.5 hours and was easy peasy, an older child could do it. I think I am going to do another one for my house to hang for birthday parties. I varied a little from directions and if anyone whats to do it, I'll tell you what I did.
