I am interested to see how many full-day kindergarten teachers do a rest time with their students. If you don't, what are some things you do to keep student's energy levels up after lunch?

I don't teach K, but our K teachers do have nap time. Our school day is 8-3. The Kinders nap after recess for about 30-45 minutes before center time. If they are still sleeping at nap time, they are allowed to sleep until pack up time. After Christmas, they do quiet reading time instead.

We have "quiet time" for 15 minutes in the afternoon. In the beginning of the year I try to get 30 minutes in, though.

I do an hour to an hour/half after recess-and all but maybe 2 or 3 (well today, we'll see tomorrow) went to sleep.

At my school, we have rest for about 30 minutes, after recess, at the very end of the day. At the beginning of the year, the kids are exhausted and most of mine fall asleep. After Christmas, I will shorten rest time as needed. (Bonus~It also gives me a time to do some 1 on 1 assessment and get folders ready to go home.)

Our K does not do naptime. Their day is packed with academics. They are allowed 15 minutes of recess.

I teach 2nd grade, but my district offers full-day kindergarten at each school in town (we no longer offer the half-day option).

Anyway, the kinder teachers do NOT take a "rest time", though they do take their kids out for a 15-20 minute afternoon recess because the afternoon is so long for them!

Side Note: Our school day is 7:45-2:10, and since kinder lunch is so early (10:55-11:45), an afternoon break is absolutely necessary.
