I guess these kids should stand out on the street corner for an hour each morning and wait for the bus. I hope there are no pedophiles or sex offenders in the area.

    This is just ridiculous.

It's patent absurdity, and the Michigan DHS has some people on their staff who need their heads examined.

It is just amazing what some people "turn" against their neighbors. I mean really. So does that mean when I had to go to a visitation & my neighbor watched my lil ones it was illegal?!?! Ugh!!!!

I just can't believe neighbors would be so nit picky!!!

I loved that if you were going to a friends house for more than so many hours a day & for so many weeks it was a daycare. My mom & Best Friend's mom in HS must have been running a daycare!!! If I wasn't home I was at her house & vice versa!!! LOL!!!

I'm so glad Michigan has the money to waste on this, especially when they are probably going to cut funding to schools by about $200 a kid!!!

Wow, that's got to be the stupidest thing I have read all day! Seriously, a parent does the right thing and finds a responsible adult to watch her kids for an hour before school instead of leaving them home alone and now the other parent has to register as a day care? That's nuts.

Gee, when dh and I were house hunting and a friend of ours regularly watched our kids for free while they played with her kids I guess that was illegal since it couldn't be just a "play date" since we weren't at home!!

That's exactly what I thought! And shame on the neighbor that turned her in!

Gosh, I cared for a child each morning for 15 minutes so the parents could go to work. Didn't know I was breaking the law.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. What a waste of time when they could be checking out some licensed center that's horrible and should be shut down instead of wasting time with this mom who's just being kind and helpful. I know people who worked at bad centers and would report things and it always took ages for anyone to come out, and never often enough to make a big enough impact.

My friend spends most of her time visiting homes and seeing to placing kids in foster care. Approving adoptive parents. Helping pregnant teens make decisions without the interference of their families. Approving foster homes. Investigating abuse claims.

She has no time to check this kind of thing out. Its stupid.

Why are we punishing a group of responsible parents who take care of their own? Especially when it seems like the parents that acutally need to get investigated are a "lower priority". Absolutely ridiculous!
