Hey Missy. Did you read that previous post with your question about my name in it? Just wanted to see if that made sense.
Before naming a child, I wish parents would practice this. Imagine you work in an office and you want to introduce a co-worker to , let's say a BIG SHOT in the company. So you walk over to the desk and say," Mr. Big Shot, I'd like you to meet Tate." Now how SILLY does that sound? Sounds like a nickname for some little kid to me. I don't like made up names or odd names with no strength to them.
Grammy - I have heard that you should "try out" a child's name in various adult situations, as you mentioned. Dusty Rhodes, you have the job! Charles McCharles, I will marry you! Now I'd like to introduce the president of our company, Luscious Lips. Precious Pratt's office is the first one on the left. STUPID!
Hey my student used to call me Bubbles because he couldn't say my last name. LOL I still think Adora-Bell is stupid. I feel bad for her. And of course she grew up in the same town her whole life so everyone knew her whole name. I wonder when she went to college if she didn't tell any one her full first name.
Adora alone is kind of pretty. I don't like made up names, either. And I don't like all the preppy ones either. Tate sounds a little preppy to me. I like the good old solid names. And traditional spellings.
Thanks, Miss W, I saw your post! Sorry if I misunderstood earlier. Kinder - I don't know anything about the name Zane, but the family is very conservative if that tells us anything!
That is funny that they are conservative, because my friend with a son named Zane is not in the least conservative.
my daughter is named Alexia Mason and if we ever have a boy the name will be Jayden William so that he will have the same initials as his father.
I know someone whose name is DallaSandra. Yep. That's one word, how it is on the birth certificate. When she moved here she went by Dallas. Wouldn't tell anyone her middle name. Well, she really doesn't have a middle name.
when we were picking names for our child for a boy we were going to pick Jayden william and he would have the same initials as his father but we had a girl and her name is Alexia Mason.
I know I have to let my husband give some imput, but I'm leaning toward Bryn O'Brien or Shannon O'Brien. Which ever is first gets the middle name.
If I have a boy first it will be Bryn O'Brien. If I have a girl first it will be Shannon O'Brien. O'Brien is a family name that has been passed down to the first born boy as a middle name. I was the first girl to ever have it, so which ever comes first boy or girl will get it as a middle name. Does that make sense now?
LOL Yes. I was so confused. I thought Obrien was your last name. One of my best friend's last name is Obrien. His first name is Charles, and when he was little everyone called him Charlie. Now he is Chachi but trying to go back to Charlie. LOL
Hehehe...my last name begins with a W. People always look at me strange when I tell them my middle name. Really my parents aren't crazy.
My brother's middle name is Morrison. My mother's maiden name. My Aunt gave her daughter Morrison as a middle name also.
Grammy & Glenda...my friend said you should yell... (example name) John James Smith get your a** over here now!!! If it doesn't sound bad go with it!! LOL!!!
I know I almost died of laughter when she told me that, but whatdid I do picking out names....that exact thing!!! A little side story, I worked w/ kids going into K one summer & some of them didn't know their middle names. So I said what does mommy or daddy say when you do something wrong... you know how many knew it then...almost all!!
Hehehehe.... That's a good idea. Some of mine go by their middle names. Why don't parents just give thier middle names as first names if they're going to call them by it? It can be so confusing for some children. Did we talk about that already? I can't remember. I'm going to have to go back and re-read the posts, again.
kinder, me too!! My friend has 2 middle names, I told him knew he was in TROUBLE when hos mom used all his names!!!
I would love to name a little girl Morgan, but my hubby wont have anything to do with that name. We agreed on Mackenzie if we ever do.
Jen I liked Bailey or Riley for a boy, but sooo many girls are being named these...I couldn't do that to the poor child!!!!
I've never heard of Bailey for a boy. It's a girl name in these parts. What about naming kids after places, like I want to with Shannon for the Shannon River?
I've heard of Bailey for a boy...on Party Of Five, the tv show awhile back. I have a cousin-in-law whose name is Riley as well. Troy doesn't want to name a girl Morgan because it's too "unisex" for him. I tell him everything now a days is unisex!
