Does anyone use this? (Along the lines of interventions and added support)

Can you tell me about it and how well it is working?

    Thanks

We've had it in our district for a few years, and as a classroom teacher, from what I see how the students progress, I like it. It's basically modeled after reading recovery, but with small groups instead of individual students. I think this is more cost effective for districts, with reading specialists serving many times more students in need. I like the whole model of reading/rereading, word work, writing, new book. The students' guided reading levels in their LLI groups correspond well with how I'm grouping them. It's very organized.

The title 1 teachers in our building use this program 5 days a week. I (ESL teacher) use it 2-3 days a week. I like it. The first few weeks were a little crazy as I figured out what components were needed for which groups, but now that I am in the swing of things, it's great.
My favorite part is that the lessons are paired so every odd lesson consists of word work and on-level text. Every even lesson has word work, a short writing piece (which the kids suprisingly love) and an easy text. I like it because if kids are making different rates of progress, I can keep going through the lessons. For example I have a student who is still reading A's while his group is in C's. I give him extra support on the on-level day and give him more instruction on the easy text day b/c that is his real level.

I use it in my classroom and it has made all the difference with the students' success. PM me if you want details.
