Okay, it's just a interim assignment, but it's an actual teaching position! I received the call on Friday, ironically while I was at my final interview for Teach for America. The principal stated that they really loved me when I interviewed (ironically the only school I had dropped off a packet to) over the summer and immediately thought of me with a Social Studies interim assignment. I start tomorrow (Tuesday) and spent today taking care of paperwork, visiting the school, and even having the opportunity to meet some of my students. I know the teacher will be back in 4-6 weeks, but I will enjoy creating lesson plans and using all these great techniques and information I've found online with my (temporary) students. Coincidentally, I received an email today from another school district stating that they have an open History position for the rest of the school year (teacher left maybe?) and are looking for someone to fill it. Not sure how quickly they need a teacher though. I'm just thrilled to be making teacher pay, even if only for a few weeks - sub pay is just so tough to assist in providing for my family.
