I'm looking for some sites/ppt that I can use to present this topic to my students. Any ideas?

I think what's being sought it a website showing things like ice cores and tree rings, both of which give evidence of what the environment was like thousands or even millions of years ago.

One bit of fossil evidence I find incredibly interesting, though it hasn't been recovered or analyzed AFAIK, is the isolated freshwater lake (Lake Vostok) under the surface of Antarctica, being researched by Columbia University.

I don't know of a single site that does this, though. Your best bet may be to collect pages from a few different sites and create a powerpoint.

Yes, it's about the environment of where the fossil originated from. Students have to be able to tell what the environment was i.e. Ocean, land, and beach. Basically, they are expected to examine the layers of rock & be able to know what the environment was at that time.
