My aunt and grandma had one when they first came out. I remember a rock hitting the windshield in my aunts and she cussed (it's Colorado and the mountains, not the fault of the car). I don't recall any major problems with the car.
I own a 2008 Ford Focus. I ABSOLUTELY love it It is the best car I owned. It is excellent in gas, super comfy and a lot better then the earlier models. My sister owned a 2001 Ford Focus and it was like night and day. More importantly, it is a very reasonably priced car. I say go for it
I have an 06 Focus and LOVE it. I haven't had any major problems with it. The new ones are GORGEOUS! I would love to upgrade it to a newer one. Highly recommend them!
Have you looked at the crash test results? A girl in my HS was in an accident in a Ford Focus- the car was crushed like a soda can. It was an older body style one, so I am sure Ford has worked to rectify the situation. Other than that, I have heard they are great cars and the other posts are very good! Good luck!
From what I know they are great cars, good gas mileage and everything, but for me it'd be too small inside.
Thanks for the responses. We did look at one. It was gold and had many optional features. We are still considering. It is such a hard choice to make!
My SIL has one, she's a hospice nurse so she's putting quite a bit of miles on it. She loves it--FYI--her husband is a mechanic and very picky on what vehicles they buy.
