So, I started working at this school district (A) at the beginning of the year. Classroom management was hard, especially with this grade level. I tried everything to the point I was called in and shown a paper of 6 pages with teachers, parents, and paras all against me, saying that what I did was wrong and I wasn't a good teacher. They wanted to terminate my contract, which would have been bad on my end. Instead, their lawyer worked out something that allowed me to resign.

Now, I am trying to apply for jobs. There are questions on the applications: Have you ever been involuntarily terminated or asked to resign, or resigned in lieu of termination from the employment of another school district? What do I say? Yes or no.

Should I add the school district I worked at to my resume? Should I ask the principal for a reference? She didn't hate me and supported me and cared about me. I just struggled, and I guess I stressed out a lot of parents and para, which, honestly since I am a first-time teacher, I had no idea how to prepare for something as big as this.

Please help me? I want to try to get some applications out, but I am just unsure on how to answer some questions on the application.

    Thank you.

Answer yes because that is true. Were you at a private school or charter school? I’m just asking because the due process for terminating someone takes awhile, and just from what you shared it didn’t seem like a long time.

We have hired both people who resigned and those who were terminated, and it honestly wasn’t any better or worse than the general hires.

How did it end? Did you admit anything? Sounds voluntary to me.

Just lie. They are so desperate for peeps they won't check. I got terminated - won't say why. I found another job at a charter school within 3 months.
