Please give some encouragement to those that have a week (or more!!) left before we finish. I finish Friday, and I'm down to counting hours (104!) I'll make it, right??
We still have 17 and a half days with kids, then one and a half without before we're done. I know (hope) that I can make it!
You will make it! These are the fun days to say good bye to your students, so enjoy it. Celebrate another wonderful completion to a school year.
You will make it! (And all you will still be enjoying your summer when we're all back in school already. )
It's going to go quickly! Keep your eyes on the prize. (It's my official first day of summer, and I'm up at 6:15 getting ready for my 2nd job which will be my full time job during the summer. *sigh* No rest for the weary.)
Not much encouraging to say here because we are already starting summer school. So excited about that.
For me, I think this last week is going to go by so quickly just because there's so much to do! For those of you on the home stretch, you're almost there!
In spite of what I thought, I did make it without losing my sanity or killing any children, parents, and/or co-workers. I'm starting my FOURTH week of summer vacation, and I barely remember where I work at this point. You can do it!
I've been done since May 24th & the lasdt couple of days went by kind of slow since there was nothing to do. For the 2nd time all year, a colleague of mine & I went to lunch nearby. That was fun! You can do it! What little thing(s) can you start doing for next year?
These last few days/weeks will go by super quick. Then, next fall, us early birds will all be back in the trenches and you'll be enjoying your last few weeks of freedom!
Three more days of work-school, three more days of ESOL class. Then I'm planning on turning into a beach bunny for seven weeks.
Finished up May 24th and I agree with on of the PP's you will make it w/o killing any students, parents, or co-workers. My students were even pretty well behaved considering They even told me they would miss me.
I actually am loving this last week - it's the first time in 8 years I haven't had to pack up and move classrooms! My paperwork is done and filed, my cabinets are straightened out, my kids are strangely calm... all I have to do is hand in my keys and walkie at the end of the day tomorrow and I'M OUT FOR SUMMER!
Two more class days...two more class days... two more class days... Then 6 days of exams and it's over Of course, today was my last day of extra help-- and tomorrow I'm helping one of our new graduates prep for a Calculus placement exam.
I finished today! Classroom is all packed up and ready for summer cleaning. I think I'll try to stay away for at least a couple of weeks!
The end is in sight, but still far in the distance. My 18 year old will be even happier when this year is done than I will be; her English teacher is becoming more and more inappropriate every day.
Lauren was home today--5 tests and 4 major assignments this week (in 3 courses) have taken their toll. The teacher made a comment to the class about her not being there. One of the other students said, "She only needs a 50%; she doesn't care anymore" (nothing could be further from the truth). The teacher replied (in front of the class), "I don't know what she expects; she's just not that good." This about a student who has had a solid 90%+ average all through high school and who consistently spends 4-5 hours every night on homework. Oh, here's another from this week. Lauren and a good friend of hers gave the same answer for a test question (completing a plot diagram, I think). The friend got 4.5/5 on the question, Lauren got 0/5. Sorry...hijack over.
At this point, she's afraid of making things worse. The teacher has made it very clear that she doesn't like Lauren and has no respect for her post-secondary plans. I asked her last night if she wanted me to go in to talk to the teacher, but she's afraid that the teacher will hold that against her. I'll talk to her again over the weekend and see how things stand. One more week of classes, then it will be done.
Today was my last day--it hasn't really hit me, yet. This was my first year teacher, and I'm so excited to have the long vacation
This makes me sick. I understand Lauren not wanting to make things worse, but inappropriate and unprofessional don't even come close to describing that teacher. On a happier note... last day was today followed with a lovely retirement party for a dear friend and coworker.
We get out at 10am....Friday! June 15th! Oh, help us all....they're so squirrely! I seriously spent 40 minutes yesterday afternoon just wrangling them on the carpet making sure they don't kill me or each other. I started taking things down to pack up, but I need some more solid activities. Any easy science experiments we can do in 3rd? I need to keep them occupied in a hot room that they don't want to be in.
We made Gak (I think it's called) but I didn't make it very science-y All you need is white glue, borax, food coloring, and water. It was fun! We made ours in ziplok bags and mushed it around in there. I didn't really follow a recipe. I put about 4 T glue and about 2 T borax and warm water mixture. Worked well!
How about preparing Reader's Theatre plays to present to the class Texture rubbings outside Measuring things outside Collecting insects Building structures out of newspaper? That's what I did with my grade 3s the week before Christmas holidays. They LOVED it. Egg drop experiment Create a musical instrument Our last day is 12:00 noon on June 29
Kids left yesterday...now we have a week of paid professional development...WOO-HOO an extra $1000 for spending money this summer!!
