Well i'm interested in knowing what people pay for childcare and/or what that is as a % of your take home pay.

I currently pay around $660 per fortnight for two children and i'll get 30% of that back at the end of the financial year.
That works out being 49% of my take home pay - YIKES! If I worked out how much it would be after receiving the 30% at the end of the financial year it's a bit better at 31% of my take home pay.

When I quit in 2000, the rates were $1000 per child per month, with a 10% discount on the 2nd child. So it was costing me $1800 per month for a 3 year old and an infant. And that was 7 years ago... it's why I quit.(OF course, it was fantastic daycare. I could have found cheaper, but chose not to.)

I pay a private babysitter (my child is the only one being watched) $500.00 a month. For a regular daycare center it would be between $650 to $1000.00 a month. My baby is two and next year we are going to put him in a regular daycare.

OMG!! For one of the best daycares in the area, we were paying $400 a month. When my daughter goes back, she'll be 4 so it will be less.

Right now, we are paying a sitter $20/day on days that we need a sitter during the day (ie when I mentor or sub)
