I would bet that we all are close to that. I got 113% faster with 500-something wpm.

I'm going to try again on my computer with my glasses to see if it's different. I'm on my phone without my glasses now.

Glasses made my percentage more than double, using the other passage.

I guess it helps to see.

I scored at 176... but thanks to teacherintexas, I put on my reading glasses first :)

I think you're right, though, in saying we'll all do well. I would imagine that many teachers are people who like to read, and as a result do so fairly quickly. We're familiar with the vocabulary, and our reading comprehension tends to be high. Otherwise we wouldn't have gotten through all those years of undergrad and graduate school. So this is the type of test that is geared towards people in our profession.

thank you for posting this. unfortunately my score was tainted because when i opened it on my screen, i didn't see the "i'm finished" button. i thought it would automatically shut itself off. so i re-read it about 10 times, then I saw the button.

    Whoops!

561 words, 124% faster than average.

I took it twice. The first time I was 96% faster than average, but I had to stop to scroll down (the whole page, not the reading excerpt), so I took it again.

Oh- if you take it again, you get different passages.

Apparently I am two percent slower than the population and since I guessed on all 3 questions I would guess my comprehension skills are lacking this morning . I did go 3 for 3 on the questions though which just shows how dumb multiple choice questions are when you can reason your way to a perfect score.

I read the next test 24% FASTER than the population so I guess taking it seriously helps (and Alice in Wonderland was a way better story to read as well). I also got all 3 questions this time without having to guess

I read it the first time rather quickly but still legitimately reading and not skimming, like I was sitting at home reading two dozen essays. It was 131% above average and got the three questions correct.

Then I read as intructed, which was "naturally", so I read as though I were in bed enjoying a book...which I read very slowly and very carefully, giving full expression to each character and all that. It was 0% faster, and actually much slower than the adult average. It was aligned perfectly with the average eighth grader. Haha. :)

Man well I feel like a lame-- 54% above average. Right in between 11th graders and an average college student

943 words per minute. 277% faster than the national average. This does not surprise me. I've always been a fast reader.

My brothers and I had fun with this just pushing the button to the point we could read Lord of the Rings in 10 Minutes, Alice in Wonderland in 1 minute. Later we plan on opening the books we own to see if we can even turn the pages that fast

I got 403 words per minute, 61% faster than the national average. Not going to be spending 24 hours reading War and Peace, though. :p When DH comes home, I'm going to ask him to take it. He's the slowest reader I've ever seen. When we are trying to find a movie on PPV or something, and I hit the info button to see what it is about, I swear it takes him two minutes to read a four sentence summary.

My hubs does this too. I'm guessing my husband won't be scoring a thousand words a minute. Maybe he needs glasses. I was half as slow without my glasses.
