    Hi Everyone,
My daughter is teaching kindergarten and I was thinking of buying her a set of foam tile squares for her little ones to use while they sit on the floor listening to stories. I've found a couple of websites, but I am wondering what size to get and if there are any drawbacks to them.

    Any comments are appreciated:)

I have never had them but I have seen them in bedrooms in friends' houses. Every set I've ever seen seems to look dirty and dingy over time.

I'll wait and see if people who have had them in their classroom chime in. They may have some secrets to maintaining them. It's also possible that quality varies depending on what company you get them from and the finish on the material.

I have found that carpet squares are more durable over time.

Once, I saw them used as place mat for boots in the winter time. It looked cute, and it didn't matter if it was a little dirty since it was for boots.

I shared a classroom with my partner teacher when we taught kinder. She had those foam tiles that you are talking about. They were okay, but we had to be strict about kids taking good care of them.

I think my kids would be too rough on them. I, personally, would prefer carpet squares or a rug.
