I always get mine!
We always get ours. Before I got shot I had flu.... now we all get shot every year. Got the quad as well. Walgreen's get a shot they give a shot.
I've never got mine - and even though it's offered to us free and even within our building, I'm not sure I'll do it. Still on the fence either way about it - not that I have anything against or for flu shots!
I got so sick from the flu a few years ago that it was scary. So I always get the flu shot now. The bad news is, even though I got a flu shot last year, I still got the flu three times. Everyone at my school was sick off and on all through the winter months. So it must've been one of the flu strains that wasn't covered by the shot.
Was it as bad as before you had the shot?
Last year was the first time a I got a flu shot, and 4 months later, I had the flu for the first time since I was a kid. It was a week long and terrible. Haven't decided if I'm getting one this year or not, last year could have just been bad luck.

I ALWAYS get the flu shot.

I have something against them, but I don't fault people for getting them.
I prefer to go natural by boosting my immune system, and it has worked well. I haven't missed a day of work (from cold/flu) in probably 10 years.
In my family I have a family member who will get the flu. No shot, you can count on the flu every other year or so. So, that family member gets the flu shot. It is almost as if this member is predisposed to the flu.
Last year's flu shot was not very useful in our area. It didn't contain the right strains.
Getting mine this afternoon.
I've always gotten my flu shot, but since I started my practicum this fall and would have even more chance to be exposed than normal, I was sure to get it as early as I could this year. (My mom also relies on the rest of our family getting the shot since she's allergic to it herself.)
I know there WERE issues with last years. They basically have to guess which strains are going to be the most prominent and/or dangerous every year and last year they missed one. My family dodged the flu last year anyway but I know some people who didn't.
I got mine this weekend. I don't do it for myself. I have a sister who is immune compromised due to cancer, and I have elderly relatives who I do not wish to expose to unnecessary illness. I am not crazy about getting shots, but when it comes to protecting those I care about, I do whatever I need to.
I never get the flue shot and I haven't had the flu for about 30 years.
Please tell me that in addition to flu, you have been boostered for pertussis. It is out there - we used to get confirmed cases regularly in the HS. These are kids who may have missed a dose, or simply outgrown the longevity of the shot. I watch my timing, and got my son started on obtaining the booster. That is a disease that can knock you out and just keep on making you miserable for weeks, far worse than the flu in my book. Teachers should make sure their boosters are kept up, and while going into your student teaching, I would booster the pertussis and get the flu shot. Trust me - there are enough cold viruses out there to make it seem like you were sick all winter, but at least with those you know what to expect. Good luck on the practicum.
Pertussis has been a huge problem in the region where I teach. There was a massive outbreak just north of me a couple of years ago. My doctor has been good about keeping my shots up to date.
Didn't get my shot today due to a software error at Walgreen's that affected their ability to read my insurance. Trying again on Tuesday.

I always get the flu shot. I got mine the first Saturday it was available through Kaiser, which was a few weeks ago.
The flu shot was just available here last week; I plan to stop on my way home from work tomorrow to get mine.
I'm allergic to the ingredients in most of the major flu shot brands. I usually don't get a flu shot. I do wash my hand more, use hand sanitizer, Lysol my room like a crazy person, and take extra vitamins. I'd rather the flu than a deadly reaction.

Target is offering a $5 gift card if you get your flu shot there. If your insurance will cover it, might as well!
I basically got paid to get a flu shot since Target gave me a gift card for getting one (my insurance covers the vaccine).
Ever since I've been in education (11 years), I've always gotten my annual flu shot!
I was nearly hospitalized with the flu once. I get it every year. I still get sick, but at least I'm not dehydrated to the point of hallucinations...
Flu shots are free here...glad this thread popped up to remind me to stop on the way home today.
Oh, Canada... you are so very smart!
I didn't get one last year-then I had a student get sent home from school with Influenza A (one of the strains the shot protected against last year). I won't go another year without getting one again after seeing that second grader struggle and miss school for an entire week due to illness and hospitalization.
I got mine in late August the past few years because it was offered at school. I've moved and it hasn't been offered at school so I'll have to hunt a place down.
I need to get on that.
