    I have gotten it nearly every year for over 20 years. The 2 times that I didn't get it, I got the flu. It's no fun. It's not a "bad cold"; it's the kind of thing that has killed many people. I have never had a bad reaction to the flu shot, so it's a no-brainer.

    I get it every year. I know it doesn't cover every strand of the flu, but the last time I had the flu it almost put me in the hospital. ( the doctor said yes, I said no.) I have sinus/allergy issues. I've never had a reaction to the shot, other than a sore arm. WalGreens comes to our school and our insurance covers it all.

    I got a terrible case of the flu last year. I was completely down for the count for three full weeks, including our entire Xmas break and the week before! It took me another six weeks to get back to about 80%--my ordeal lasted over two months! I don't think I've ever been so sick in my life. I didn't get a flu shot last year like I usually do because I had been sick on and off all fall and wasn't well enough to get the shot. The flu hit me like a truck before I was able to get the shot. I'm going to do everything I can to avoid that again. I was miserable. :( What made it so bad is that I'm not a sickly person and rarely get more than a little sniffly or some congestion for a day or two.

    It would be extremely dangerous if I got the flu so I get the shot every year. The question for me is when to get it. I feel it is too early now so maybe end of September/October?

    No. I haven't had the flu since 1995 and even then it hit me around 4 pm and I went to work the next morning. I think that if I ever get it again, I will get the flu shot the following year.

    I vote yes because I got three differnt flu-like viruses last year and I would rather not again.

    The new batch is now available and, according to the CDC, is designed to fight:
    • an A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
    • an A(H3N2) virus antigenically like the cell-propagated prototype virus A/Victoria/361/2011;
    • a B/Massachusetts/2/2012-like virus.

    I have only gotten a flue shot once and I was sick (like at the doctor's office sick) once a month for the entire year.

    I've never gotten one and I don't intend to. I have a mild phobia of needles, and I would honestly rather deal with the flu than a flu shot. I just make sure to be very diligent about taking care of myself...and in the classroom, I use a lot of hand sanitizer.

    Started getting them in college (the 70s) and have ever since.
    Had the flue one time since then. Besides, they are FREE at school.:thumb:
    I highly recommend them.

    I got the flu last year. Which set off a horrible chain reaction. After I recovered from the flu, I got pneumonia, and then I got a sinus infection, and then I ended all the fun times with a cold. I felt like I was on death's doorstep for three months. Not really looking for a repeat. Which is why I will be getting a flu shot as soon as they are out.
