Not to leave those other wonderful states out.. But....

I have seen numerous posts recently from Florida teachers. There seems to be alot of our newest members from Florida. I am curious as to where everyone is from. Who knows, maybe some of us are near neighbors and don't even know it. So, let's hear from us Florida teachers. Where are you located in Florida? I'll start. I live in Polk County, Central Florida not too far from Orlando. But I teach in the next county over - Osceola. Next....... :p

We should all meet in the middle of the state somewhere. What do you think?

I am up for something like that. I think it would be great if we could put faces to the names that we know so well.

Wouldn't it? Belle Glade is in the middle. There is a neat country inn (large) that supposedly has a very good restaurant.

I looked that up on Yahoo Maps. That is really far south for those of us in the central/northern part. Is there somewhere at least on the northern side of Lake Okeechobee that would be a little more centralized?

Margo, I don't know much about that area. One cool place that I do know of would be in La Belle - Flo and Ella's. Country restaurant and shop, famous for their pies. On the north side of the lake is Indiantown but I don't know about anything there. Ruth is down south of Lauderdale, though, so we shouldn't try to go too far north. How far north of Tampa are you?

I am east of Tampa. I am about even with Tampa (in other words - I am really not North of Tampa). But to go down to the south of Lake Okeechobee would probably be close to a 3 or 3 1/2 hour drive. I can look into it though and see just how far it would be for me. I know I went to Ft. Pierce a couple of weeks ago and that was a good 2 hours.

Okay, I can understand that. I wouldn't be able to do a 3 hour trip either.

Margo - Ft Myers is exactly the same distance from Tampa as it is from West Palm Beach. 126 miles. Hmmm

I am in! Name where and I will drive up to three hours. That means, if it is actually the distance of FOUR, I can do it in THREE.

I have Florida resident passes to Disney and Universal if Any one wants to do a trip! Or, I can drive up to orlando and pick others up along the way!

What about something on the east side - Vero Beach? I have never been there so I don't know of any good places. That would be 2 hours for me. (I am about 1 hour east of Tampa so Ft. Myers would still be like a 3 hour drive or so).
