Right now I am doing some assessments while the kids are in math stations. After assessments, I will review and sort the data. During math stations, I will pull a group of students depending on skill needed to be learned. I do stations 3 x's a week. -I begin with a number talk or math talk, which lasts for about 3 mins. I'll hold up some cubes and see if they can instantly recognize how many are in my hand. Or maybe I'll show some dots on a card. I'll ask a child or two to share their thinking. -Then is the minilesson (right now it's patterns) -Then it's station time (It is during this time I'll pull a group. One group is working on counting. Another group may be working on forming numbers. Another group may be working on complex growing patterns...etc.) -Then it's sharing time
