I'm a first year teacher, teaching first grade and am being observed for the first time in mid-October. Does anyone have any suggestions for lessons or a lesson that went well when they were observed? Thanks! I wrote "first" way too many times in this post.
Teach whatever you were going to teach in whatever manner you were going to teach it. Canned lessons are incredibly easy to spot. Just be yourself and teach whatever you're up to.
I agree with Alice. Just teach a regular lesson. I never spend any extra time coming up with a huge fancy lesson just to impress someone. Be confident in your everyday teaching skills.
Our principals really look for on task behavior, student learning, and classroom management when they observe. So I never do anything different than usual. Who knows how the kids would act with something totally different? I may try to choose a little more interesting math activity if possible but I just stick with the normal routine.
