First Year Teacher Advice

    Pinterest would have you believe you need to decorate everything from ceiling to floor, but it's superficial. I say give it some time and fill the space with student work. The classroom should reflect the students' work, not the teacher's. And it will save you some $$$. I'm not saying don't use your anchor charts (do!), but if you feel like you need to fill space just to fill it, don't bother. Classrooms are over-stimulating already.

    Ok, that's reassuring. There are a ton of other new teachers in my school and I think they might be decorating a bit more. One of them has a Cricut and is making signs for her bulletin boards with it.

    My mentor teacher did this thing where she had each kid color/decorate a letter and had them spell "everybody belongs here." I might do the same thing since I'll have a ton of time with them during homeroom on the first day and it's student made class decor.
