First thing you're going to do on summer break

I'm looking forward to summer break! I know that the first days I'll spend at home sleeping and watching movies :) Then we are planning a home renovation. I do hope we will have enough time and finances to go somewhere on vacation.
We actually did some home renovation at the beginning of the year and then doing some more on spring break so hopefully by summer I can do NOTHING!!! Ok, I'll do laundry and the dishes LOL
Mostly I will be reading, catching up on tv shows/Netflix, gardening, and not setting an alarm!

I’m retired, so the only difference for me is that I can do things with my BFF who is still teaching. They had closures for hurricane, power outages, snow/ice, and flooding. Even with their 10 approved remote days, they’re in school until June 4th instead of mid May.

I’m giving state tests at the high school next week. They have to give tests during the last 14 days of the school year. It’s a good way to remind myself why I’m glad I retired. Everybody is ready for summer vacation,

10 days. The kids are completely losing it and spiraling this year. Four suspensions today alone. Two kids tried the stupid chromebook fire thing, and somehow the only consequence is not being allowed a chromebook for the last two weeks of school. The end cannot come soon enough.

You guys get out crazy early.

My former district is getting out late this year due to flooding and snowstorms. Normally we are getting out about now, and they still have a couple of weeks left. Most years teachers are going back at the end of July with the kids the first week of August.

Next year, due to construction, school doesn’t start until after Labor Day, and that’s just insane to think about.

We had to close quite a bit this year because of snow, and one random day we didn't have power. Thanks to having an extended school day though, we don't have to push the last day back. We have our mandated hours in. The kids started the third week of August.

Is the construction some fun improvement? or just repairs? It's easier to put up with when it's a nice upgrade.

They’re building a new middle school. The current one is failing apart. It opened in 1998, and we were having issues before we even moved in. Some rooms aren’t usable, some doors don't close, and the floors aren’t level. It’s been a huge ordeal.

The new one is near three other schools, so they don’t want students around during blasting.

That sounds like the renovation done to my neighbor's house. Nothing works right, things are uneven, doors are crooked. My husband is a contractor and had to go over there to fix a bunch of things that were done terribly. They should have hired him to begin with but this other guy was referred to them for some reason.

Well, I still have 4 weeks to go but I had a 4 day weekend for Memorial Day. The weather has been crummy so I couldn't go out and work on my plants!

I'll go out with all my friends, one day I'll stay in bed for the whole time, and finally will go on my dream trip to Italy

Not in regular classroom these days, but last day I had to work with students was May 7th. It's will feel nice at the end of the day the following Monday (today) to not have to do that extra duty! Off from that for a good three months!
