My first interview of the year is tomorrow. I'm super nervous and probably won't sleep at all tonight. It is a phone interview and is at 7:15 in the morning. So, I'll be up early. I've looked over interview questions. Looked over the district site, the school site, and each of the teacher's sites. I know I'm prepared, but still nervous. It's hard to get a job when you are half of the country away.
Just think - you're prepared, you're qualified, and you're the best teacher for that position. Be yourself. Good luck!
Good luck!! I would have cheat sheets in front of you, if you have a portfolio have it available to refer for questions.
Good Luck - I am sending good thoughts now because no way will I be up at 7:15 am Think positive, remember to listen, and stg's advice about cheat sheets is a great idea. Keep us posted
Yeah, I wrote down all the key words from the sites I looked at and I'm going to have my lap top on one of the teachers schedules. But, I know I will be pacing. This interview is South of Austin.
I'm not worried about the 7:15 except I'm teaching summer school and am supposed to be there at 8. My principal is awesome and is covering my class until I get there. But, it means I have to be ready to walk out the door for work at 7:15 so I can leave as soon as I'm done with the interview.
I just read this. Good luck! I PMed you. I'm very familiar with the district where you are interviewing.
Oh! I have a good friend that just moved to Austin! I hear it is lovely. She will be looking for a job now. But not in education! Anyhow, be yourself, have humor, and just relax. Practice in front of a mirror. It will help! All the best!
After 15 minutes I called. I was freaking out by then. I was informed they were running behind and would call me back in a minute. I expect them to run behind, but I was the first interview. Ten minutes later they finally called, so a total of 25 minutes late. Which meant I was late to work, luckily I told my Principal and she covered my class. The interview went ok. I totally blanked on what is your favorite book for K. I see all these books running through my head, and yet at the moment none of the titles are coming to my head. I end up running to my home library and grabbing a random book. So, that didn't go so well, I hate nerves. But, I felt like I answered the rest of the questions well. I gave an example anywhere I could. They asked if I could get them my references and they said a few times they would appreciate them by this afternoon. (Which I have gave them the references, but oh well.) I just thought it was good that they would need my references today. I will hear by Tuesday.
I sent Thank You notes to everyone. Even the Principal even though she did not sit in on the interview. But, she is the one who scheduled the interviews and I got a response. The principal wrote back and said that she heard I did great on the interview, but they have two more interviews today and then she will let me know. I would love to work for a principal who responds to E-Mails!
mego65, I agree about working for a principal that responds to e-mails! Sending positive thoughts your way!
