    Hi Friends,

Well I have finally landed an interview! It's for a .42 FTE so it is far from ideal, but I think it would be worth it if I could get some teaching experience!

I'm just worried about the money to be honest, as I work full time as a Para and it doesn't pay all that well, it is enough for me to survive on...

Has anyone here ever worked a .42 or .5 whatever and fill me in on type of pay and if it was a benefits eligible amount of work?

Also if anyone has any hints or tips for my interview, that would be appreciated, the interview is for this Friday!

In my district you wouldn't get benefits.
I'm not familiar with the FTE acronym.

    FTE is "Full Time Equivalent".

.42 FTE would still get paid more than many of the aides in my district.

Any tips for the interview? I know to research and ask a couple of questions at the end of the interview, but Im wondering how many resume packets I should put together...

Should I put them in one of those report portfolio deals with the clear cover?

A full time job would be 1.0 FTE. Anything that's part-time is a percentage of that, depending on the hours. (So .42 FTE would be like working 42% of the work day.) That's how I understand it to be.

It's an unusual percentage though....I'm sure it's because of money, but why not go .5?

Congrats on the interview! I would be ready for all the questions you would be asked for a full time position but also how you plan to succeed in a part time position. Are you sharing a classroom with another teacher? How will you keep others updated only working about 2 days a week or half days?

3/7 is roughly 42%. They probably have a 7 period schedule and the OP would have 3 classes.
