Hi everyone, I am in the process of writing my plans for the first day of school, and I feel like I don't have enough planned for the day. Could you all give me some ideas of what activities you do on the first day of school? Thanks
With preschool don't over plan. You will be lucky to get through rules and going over centers, etc. I usually just do the Wheels on the Bus and discuss bus safey. If time you could graph how the children come to school. But usually it takes all day to teach them how and what to do. Usually the first three days are hectic.
how long is your program?? I have tons planned ~ if we dont' get to them then that is okay but I would rather OVER plan then have to fill in witih bits of "something off the top of my head" type thing.
I also teach a full-day preschool program in a public school, and I'm just worried that I do not have enough planned.
Its my first year teaching half day preschool and I am planning on just going over rules and centers on the first day. Maybe reading stories or singing songs, but that's about it.
I am doing rules of the classroom, Calendar activities, singing a few songs, going over the centers and center rules, and doing bus safety. We will also graph how we got to school if we have time. I do centers 2 times. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon and a recess before lunch.
