I know this may sound weird, but I like to know who my competition is in the district that I am working in and know who I am competing with for employment. I know that I can go to the desi website and get information about a teachers certification, but is there a way to get certification information for substitute teachers? Are teacher certifications public knowledge if the person is not employed full time in a district?
I doubt there's any way to access this info, and at the risk of sounding mean, I really don't see how it's any of your business anyway.
I can't imagine why they would release that information, any more than they would fill in "the competition" about your information. I think you can probably assume that everyone employed has met at least the minimal standards required by your district. Beyond that, I don't imagine the information would be easy to get.
Here, all of our subs must be certified teachers and our credentials and certifications are public record.
In my state, certification is listed for all teachers (substitute and full-time) on the Department of Education's website. You have to at least know their last name in order to find out their certification.
Teacher certification status (whether the person is currently employed or not) is available online in my state. You just need to enter the person's name and your email address.
Yep! I'm kind of surprised that this information is kept private in other states. I always thought it was common to have it accessible to the public.
I can't speak for Missouri, but you'd be better off with just two "names" lists. One list of everyone in the district you're applying to and a list of the people applying for the open position. Compare them. If any of the applicants have the same last name as any of the current staff or employees, you'll know right away who's getting the job!
Reality Check, that definetly happens here. Wish I had the same last name of someone in the district or on the board....but now I do have an advantage because I have just been hired as a teachers aide. Very excited.
