File Folder Games

How do you protect your file folder games? Do you laminate them? I'm trying to find a way to laminate them while still being able to glue them onto the folders.

 

Glue first then Laminate. Takes a bit longer but I found it held the file folders and pieces just fine.

 

I laminate the pieces, but not the folders themselves.

 

That's what I was thinking, but my laminator isn't big enough.

Do your folders hold up well?

 

If you have a school supply store near you many do laminating for a price. So you could bring in your file folders to be done but do the pieces yourself.

 

I haven't had the folders very long, but so far so good.

If it's the cost issue, try clear contact paper.

 

Many teacher stores also have deals on laminating in the weeks prior to the start of the school year, so you could ask when the sales would occur.

Office supply stores also do laminating, though it's more expensive. It is worth it, though, because they use the very thick laminating plastic, and it could withstand anything that your students could do to it. I haven't done file folder games in awhile, but I glued everything down and laminated the whole folder. It's MUCH easier to store and handle that way.

 

I have laminated both the manipulatives/sheets and folders before.

 

Thanks, everyone! I don't know of any school supply stores (unless you count Staples) around here. The clear contact paper is a good idea, though. Never thought of that.

 

Luckily, my district has a teacher resource center, where we can get copies cheap and lamination for 10 cents per foot. Needless to say, I spend LOTS of time there in the summer, lol. The thicker lamination is 50 cents per foot, but I still save money in the long run. Heck, if I could, I'd laminate the kiddos!
