I once wore a skirt to teach.

Sounds like I'm starting a limerick!!!
So, which is it? Do you find yourself wearing pants or skirts?dresses to teach most of the time?

I think this past school year I wore a skirt to teach once and it was the first day of school. After that I wore pants every day. I wore a skirt to all of our concerts and things, but only once during the day to actually teach.

I wear pants most of the time simply because of the grade I teach. I do love wearing skirts so I will wear them about once a week, but only on days I know I don't have any messy projects, etc. planned. I usually end up wearing those on my outfits!:eek:hmy:

I would rather wear pants, but I'm a skirt girl because of my large hips. Anything that fits my waist hugs my hips and thighs and anything that fits my hips and thighs is way to big in the waist. I'm too lazy (and cheap) to alter the pants to fit right, so I just go for skirts most of the time! I've learned to love skirts!

Since girls can't wear pants at my school, it's dresses or skirts for me. :)

Usually pants. I have a couple skirts but I don't wear them as often. If I do, it's usually when the weather is warmer.

Me too Beth. I have to say I wear mostly pants in the winter time due to bus duty outside for 15 minutes 3 days a week.

I do love wearing skirts though.

I love wearing skirts in the spring and fall. Pants all winter. I'm a bit of a fashionista, and like to dress up, even though my school is casual.

I once work a skirt to teach.

When I was down on the floor,
Up I could get no more.

    At recess I stumbled,
    Tore my stockings and grumbled.

During math, my legs did not cross.
    I felt like a mummy
    It sure wasn't funny.

At the end of the day, I kicked off my heels.
My feet and my toes, I could not feel.

    "That's it," I proclaimed,

"I'll never again wear a skirt -it's strange!"

I tried to make a rhyme.

Oh it's no big deal. I've worn mostly skirts for years on my own anyway. Went to Christian college where skirts/dresses with hose were required (at least hose are not required here!!!!). Even when I worked in the corporate world, I wore mostly skirts or dresses.

At least we can wear pants to after school activities like sports games and such. Some schools don't even allow that.

    I wear them both equally.

When I was in the 10th grade, my English teacher had on a long flowing skirt. She went to lift up the overhead screen, and you know how they always stick and you have to pull them waaaaay out and then they zoom back up? Well, somehow, her skirt got caught up in the string or handle, and when the screen shot up, it took her skirt with it! She was trapped in front of the room with her skirt up over her head!

Thankfully, she was a well loved teacher and the students all rushed to help her. She had a great attitude and laughed about it!

I usually wind up wearing pants more often because I feel more comfortable, but I'd actually like to wear skirts just a wee bit more often this year. :)

I almost always wear pants. I like gauchos with boots in winter. Have they gone out of style again?

Oh, I wish I could wear them, but I have big hips and those dress/skirt things are either wayyy to tight (when they aren't supposed to be) or they make me look 10 times bigger. No thanks!

The style now is wharever you want to wear!! I don't think anything is out any more! This is the best time of all! I do think that we all have to be savvy to our age when dressing though! I can't wear what I wore at 30....sigh!!

By all means, share it as a tale of caution! :p

And since I'm telling other people's secrets... I was on duty at graduation one year, and the zipper to my skirt broke. It fell to the floor, pooling at my ankles. Fortunately, I had a graduation robe on, so no one could see anything, um, important, but 10,000 people saw me reach down and pick up my skirt!

I wear skirts/dresses maybe 25% percent of the time. I think it is a nice change and is cooler than pants when you have recess!

In the Mexican culture that surrounds the area I live, women are not seen as feminine in pants. I wear skirts and heels almost every day. Otherwise, I would be viewed as butch (oh no!!! ha ha ha)

Plus, I'm newly pregnant and I like stretch skirts. I have a rather big rear naturally, and it compliments my figure.

You know, you'd think with both of those experiences, I'd be scared to wear skirts!

I always tell my students that if they ever do something embarrassing and feel like crawling in a hole, come see me. I can guarantee I've done something worse!

I've heard that in this culture, men are seen as foo foo if they wear shorts...true or totally not true?
And.....don't you feel akward having your figured exposed in stretch anything in front of students, especially since you teach high school? Just wondering....

Even in 100 degree heat, only children wear shorts. Otherwise you are hoochie! And men always wear jeans or slacks, no shorts (except for those coaches.... they have no shame. Male coaches parade in short shorts... UGG!!!)

Women around here dress extremely provocatively. I have no prob wearing stretchy, because I will never catch up to all the muffin tops, butt cracks, boobs hanging out, see through clothes that all the students and half the other teachers wear! I have some shame, and my mom taught me to dress professionally, so I'm cool with stretchy.

Men down here are UBER MEN, and women are the epitome of women. Its so extreme, its almost laughable!

I usually wear pants or capris. I wear my skirts occasionally when I want to wear my shoes that look cute with a skirt! (and on those days I also bring a flat pair of comfy shoes to work! I always seem to forget how standing all day in my cute shoes gives me blisters!)

When the weather is hot, which is most of the time, I wear dress capris, khaki capris, and skirts. My skirts are midlength or long. In the winter I wear pants.

I wear skirts or pants. It usually depends on my mood. Pants are easiest because you can move around the classroom more freely.

I feel more comfortable in skirts because I find it harder to find well-fitting pants (legs are a tad on the short side, butt a bit on the round side, thighs are "athletic", waist is small). The only problem is finding comfy shoes when I wear skirts. So I wore pants and skirts equally last year.

This year coming up is different because our school is having all teachers wear basically uniform shirts for school spirit. The shirts will go with some skirts but more the career style not the summery, lightweight kind of style. Plus, we are encouraged to wear professional sneaker looking shoes and discouraged from wearing heels or anything difficult to run in in case of emergencies, so I am only buying pants for next year and have plenty of old skirts I can still wear from time to time.
