My first year at this school and I've got a child in the hospital about to have his 9th brain surgery in 7 months. He cannot stay awake and cannot keep food down. The doctor says it's not the shunts (for hydrocephaly) or he would have woken up when they were drained. It sounds like his little body is shutting down. And I haven't even met him yet.
What an emotional way to start the year. I can't imagine dealing with this. May the Lord be with the child and family and also you and your class.
I feel like crying...he is still unconscious and they found bacteria in his cerebral spinal fluid! Nothing else is showing up. He may have surgery on Friday...I feel so helpless. We definitely need a crying smiley
Well, my little guy is still unconscious. He has numerous abcesses in his intestines, so they are removing the shunt from his stomach since he has a spinal fluid infection. But, he isn't any worse, which is promising. My little girl with diabetes who had a diabetic seizure from low blood sugar yesterday was nearly in a diabetic coma today from high blood sugar. I am seriously considering calling the department of families and children for medical neglect!
Awwwwww i am so sorry. I will keep you in my prayers. I wish there was something I could do for you. I hope for the best. Please let us know how it goes.
