What are some of your favorite read-alouds, especially for the first week? Any books you read prior to making class rules (books about friendship, respect, etc)?

I love First Day Jitters. I read it to my 4th graders when I made the move from PreK. I was nervous so this story really fit in. The kids liked the story. I plan on reading it this year as I make another huge career transition.

I like to have bubble print of my kids names printed. They color them as they get to school. Then I read Crysanthumum. Then the kids share their names that they colored.

Also, I like The Night Before First Grade.
