Any one of a certain singer or cd they use during class time? I am sick using Dr. Jean all the time. I just got a Jack Hartman cd I really like. What do you all use?

Which specific albums do you recommend for people not familiar with these artists? I go to their websites and can't decide!

for heidisongs.com i Recommend all three of the sight word albums, we have 51 sight words in our district and all but 3 are included on those albums. I also recommend the math cd that has counting and patterning- i use it during calendar. Finally one of my faves is the letters and alphabet cd. There is a separate song for every letter of the alphabet, they are so catchy, explain how to write the letter, and the kids LOVE them. They all include movements to get the kids up and brains working. :) Hope that helps!

I love Greg & Steve. Their CDs are for movement.

Jack Hartmann, especially the nursery rhyme cds he has. It is amazing how many kids don't have a clue with nursery rhymes!

I think all of mine have been named:

    Greg and Steve
    Jack Hartmann (LOVE HIM)
Jim Gill (seen him in concert several times - so much fun and a very nice guy!)
    Laurie Berkner

    Also:
    They Might Be Giants
Debbie Clements (mostly preschool-y, but a few gems that I love)
Justin Roberts - not academic stuff, but fun songs for other times

We also have a local kindergarten teacher that has put out a few rap cds. His name is completely escaping me right now, but I'll try to come back and post when I remember or when I look at his cds at school. They are really good and my students love them.

ETA: Just remembered his name - Brian Holland. Haven't found a link to his cd's yet, but I did find an article about him. Looks like he is no longer teaching K in our district: http://www.hiphoplinguistics.com/news/2009/01/ohio-children-learn-abcs-to-a-hip-hop-beat

Second edit: Found his website: Hip-Hop-Ademics
