It would be great if we could start a separate posts for websites / resources for parents and students. I'm always asked for these.

Here are some of my favorite teacher sites:

http://www.lcandler.web.aplus.net/ - She has everything for multiple subjects.

Rubistar: http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php You can make your own rubric or search the thousands that have already been created.

Jem's website called Real Classroom Ideas: http://www.realclassroomideas.com/index.html This has so many useful ideas for the classroom.

Teachers First: http://www.teachersfirst.com/index.cfm Units, lesson plans and technology all in one place.

Use the Members List link at the top of the page to search for "PowerTeacher" (I think, but am not sure, that's one word). Once you've got 'im, clicking on the name in blue should let you search all of PowerTeacher's posts... and I think his signature includes his Web site. If it doesn't, just rummage a bit.

Quick response for Pwhatley: (I need to keep this on topic)

    - Working on the educational website, which I need to admit was massive
    - Planning for my vacation next week :)
    - Simply not going on here... I feel I didn't have much to contribute for a while. (But... I need some good ideas for next year... and I also feel compelled to give once again, so technically I am back.)

By the way, teachers, what are some resources you hope to locate on the net and haven't had much luck?

Two things I'm always on the lookout for:

    1. Printable posters for the classroom- for example, the genre posters on Newingham's website. Basically, any cute learning tools that can be printed and hung up in the room.

    2. Complete projects for intermediate elem. levels- for example, the poetry project on Renz' website, book report projects, etc. Basically, any neat projects that already have all the work done already.:D

First of all, the "atta boys" are appreciated, gang. During this morning's update, my internet crashed and I lost everything I'd done - about an hour's worth of updates, and had to start all over again. No, I'm not joking. They weren't kidding when the said "SAVE AND SAVE OFTEN."

Trinda - I added a lot of the special ed websites. Thanks for the link.

UCLAlum - SparkleBox has tons and tons and TONS of FREE, professionally done classroom goodies to hang all over your classroom. Check it out. Also, check out that first post for tons of elementary planning websites. I know I've put a lot on there. Look under "general."

Has anyone mentioned www.literactive.com ? It's a free interactive reading website for primary grades. You have to register and get a password, but it's free.

I also love www dot poisson rouge dot com for pre-k. Some alphabet stuff, games, puzzles. (There shouldn't be a space between poisson and rouge. For some reason it won't let me post a link. It keeps replacing the words with asterisks. ???

I must add Kevin Roughton's site..http://www.mrroughton.com. I believe his name is Rockguy or Rockguykev on here. He's helped me tap into what I've really wanted to do with my SS classes and the "Activities" he has listed are so great!

I have no idea why it would be blocked, though. It's a great site for young children! "Poisson rouge" just means "red fish" in French.

The site is down right now for upgrading. This is the message I get:

I hope the first post I sent (the archived links) are useful for this thread. There are many that may be no longer working urls or If any are duplicates from what you already have... I apologize for that now.

HOLY CRAP that's a lot of sites. Can you pick 5-6 absolute favorites out of that list? I'm sorry but it would take me hours to research those sites and cut & paste them where they go. I appreciate you sharing though. Maybe I'll just make a note at the bottom of my list about your post and folks can skip over and take a look. :)

    Favorite Websites

Whew! I just read 78 posts! Admittedly, I didn't check out all the sites, but have "saved" all for the future.

I use these sites all the time for Pre-K.
    www.starfall.com - early reading
    www.pre-kpages.com (I love V. Levin's site!!!!!)
www.handwritingworksheets.com (prints all the dots to trace!)
www.freetranslation.com (not perfect but at least my Spanish speaking parents can have a clue)
www.flylady.net (helps me personally when I get overwhelmed and start feeling ADD)(there is a Yahoo Group - flylady_4_elementary_teachers that I like!! There are some good organizational helps for students/teachers)
    www.first-school.ws (lots of printables)

I have to say that when I went back into teaching in 2001 and had to "re-learn" some things, I lived on Amanda's AtoZteacherstuff web site. I've always read threads, but decided to participate this summer.:) Here are a few others that helped me get back into meaningful teaching...

    I also love
    www.abcteach.com
    www.theschoolbell.com
    www.thevirtualvine.com
    www.kinderkorner.com
    www.teachingheart.net

(and a bunch others that are now only available on archives or I just don't use that often anymore)

    THANX everyone!!
