Scrub up some palm sized rocks...kids glue google eyes, yarn hair, Sharpie on a smile...make a sign to attach that says 'Dad, You Rock!'

This year for Mother's Day I skipped all the usual crafts, projects, etc and simply had them write a letter to their mom. I asked them to include why she was special, something about her they were thankful for and a special memory they have of her. I didn't edit them. The students wrote them on their own and they went home unedited. I had them decorate the border around their writing.

These were so lovely and heartfelt. Also, as a mom (my son is in my grade level in the neighboring classroom this year) I was THRILLED to have such a sweet keepsake that I did not need to wear or an oversized project to store. This sweet note can be tucked away and saved forever.
