How are you celebrating the first day of fall in your classroom?

The first day of fall is on a Saturday, so no I won't specifically celebrate the "first" day of fall. However, we will be doing a whole unit of Fall right around that time, so the subject will be well covered. Fall is my favorite time of the year and the art projects just go on and on.

Fall is my favorite too Grammy!

I have a tree on my bulletin board & it always changes with the seasons. Right now it has apples.

Here's a song I sing the first day & through Fall~ I buy fabric leaves (Dollar Tree) and have the children help toss them & pick them up.

    sung to "London Bridges"

    Autumn leaves are falling down,
    Falling down, falling down
    Autumn leaves are falling down,
    Orange, yellow, red and brown!

The kids love it & they love the interaction!

We are going to take a walk around the neighborhood and take pictures of "signs of fall"...things like leaves changing colors, kids wearing jackets, accorns on the ground etc. Then I print out the pictures and hang them in the science area.

I love that idea firstwonders! I will have to talk to my assistant director and see if we can do that this week.

firstwonders, I love that idea. We are going to take a walk to collect leaves, and then do leaf rubbing and collages with them... assuming the leaves have changed by then (we're not "doing" leaves and trees for another 2 weeks)
