Such a switch from yesterday, it's cool in the 70s today! I love how the weather starts changing from Sept to Oct. Next week will be hotter, but by the 2nd week of Oct, it will be cooler on a regular basis. I found a website that shows what the temps will be for the next 30+ days, so it's nice to know how the weather will be. I have a couple of Oct events to go to, so it will be really nice, cool weather by then!
Fall is my favorite season!!!!!!!! But it still feels like Summer here. It's been in the 90s all week, but the leaves have started changing colors and falling off the trees. Very weird. I was looking at my Facebook memories, and a couple years ago "on this day", the first day of Fall had actually felt like the first day of Winter because it was so cold! And this year, it feels like Summer.
The autumnal equinox is on us, yes, and this week's been cool and muggy with the rain from Paine, so there's much to be said for that in a tinder-dry region... but in my view Southern California doesn't get truly autumnal till after the Santa Ana winds have died down, which generally means past the end of October. We can hope for less blistering weather between now and then, of course; nevertheless, it doesn't do to confuse astronomical seasons with meteorological ones, especially in a region as ravaged by late-October fires as this one.
I'll be thrilled once this summer of record-breaking heat is done. These never-ending days of heat and humidity are so draining. I'm looking forward to wearing a shirt with sleeves, long pants and socks with my shoes!
We're still in the mid-80's regarding temps. I love the 70s though. Long walks in the breeze! I hate taking walks in the summer where I start sweating after 5 minutes!
I usually do Fall as a theme the week the seasons change, but I didn't do that this year! I knew it was going to be in the 90s this whole week. It's supposed to cool down next week (70s) so that's our theme next week..
It's still really warm here in my area. Despite the heat, I'm still burnin' those pumpkin scented candles and have my pumpkin scented plug-ins throughout the house!
LOL I'm back in Upstate NY and am *ALREADY* missing AZ's weather. I'll prob move to NC or Florida when I graduate from my program in 2018.
Went from summer to gloomy November today. Lol. Actually temps weren't bad but just cloudy and kind of rainy/misty all day. It was cooler only 72, but no sun.
We have some leaves starting to change, but that may be due to the dry weather more than anything. It was HOT today, in the 90's. I'm ready to wear my boots again. Hopefully cooler weather will be here by the end of October.
Today was the break here in central Ohio. Rockhubby and I are on the back deck enjoying the coolness.
Nice here today low 70s. Saw some people with bonfires going. We went apple picking. Lol. We bought some cider (unpasteurized) a few weeks ago... but I like to warm my cider up. Lol. Wasn't it feeling it yet for warm stuff. As I type says 63. Ready to turn AC off and get about our month & a half or so before we need heat or AC. Lol
... Aaaaand cue the Santa Ana winds, starting tonight. Santa Anas, for those who don't know, are strong hot dry winds blowing from the Great Basin toward the ocean. By "hot", I mean three-digit temperatures in parts of Orange and Los Angeles counties. By "dry", I mean humidities as low as single digits: even I'm going to need to break out the chapstick (and I purely hate using chapstick). The fire danger between now and Tuesday is going to be hideously high. So, yeah: I guess, by local standards, it's blasted fall.
I just want it to be below 90 degrees. It looks like we are finally entering the low 80s and high 70s soon, after a couple more 97-98 degree days. We had a couple nice days last week. I had almost forgotten what nice outdoor weather feels like!
It's pretty hot & windy today, like I saw that it would from the weather report. Again, the 2nd week of Oct in my area will be much better.
We just returned from a beach weekend (Santa Cruz area). It was warm, but cooled down beautifully by the evening (sweatshirt was necessary after 6pm). I am longing for the 70s/80s here in the Central Valley!
This morning it was around 40 degrees when I left for work. Yikes! It will supposedly warm up to 69 which will be nice.
We finally had a break in the weather here in southern Ontario (although I did get sunburned yesterday in northern Ohio). The cool and rainy weather made it a perfect day to make the squash/sweet potato soup I've been craving.
Measurements are approximate as I made it up as I went along: 1 medium butternut squash 1 sweet potato 1 medium onion 4 medium carrots Clean and cut veggies into large chunks. Toss with salt, garlic, garam masala and a splash of olive oil. Roast at 375 for about 35 minutes. Transfer to large pot and add 4cups of chicken or vegetable broth (I use no sodium). Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 minutes or until veggies are tender. Blend with an immersion blender until smooth, then add 1/2 cup coconut milk.
I'll have to find the recipe but it's basically butternut squash, vegetable broth, diced apples, half and half (or light cream, etc), and a touch of nutmeg and/or cinnamon. I just soften the squash and apple in some butter and add the rest of the ingredients to a pot and then use my immersion blender or you can put it in a regular blender to get it smooth.
Yesterday was a grilled cheese and tomato soup kind of day here, but back to much warmer weather this week. I NEED fall!!
Fall is supposed to be here, yet it was the hottest day that it will be this month at 99 degrees yesterday. Man, I'll be glad when it's the low to mid 70s once & for all!
Oh, it felt like fall here today with temps in the low 70s. I have soup cooking in the crock pot right now. I love this time of year! I just hope it lasts. We've been very back and forth with lots of (too) warm weather too.
LOVE AUTUMN its my favorite season..love decorating for Fall too and I loooooove being able to wear my boots and leggings with big sweaters everyday )))
I love the fall. By the time it comes, I'm fed up with the 100 degree heat, and with the 90 degree heat that's still around in September and part of October. Last week the weather finally changed, where you can tell it won't be super hot, maybe in the high 70s here and there. I took out all my fall and winter clothes and put away all the summer ones. It's all about boots, and sweaters and scarves and mittens And now that I'm into hunting, this is the most exciting time of the year
Yep, so into fall fashion as well: Leather boots, sweaters, even scarves sometimes. Too hot to wear that yet where I am.
I am loving this fall weather! Autumn is my favorite season because of the cooler temps, the drop in humidity, the changing colors, fire pit nights, football, and the holidays.
