i work at on of the Goddard Schools in GA i was wondering what ideas you guys could share w/ on fall for the schoolagers.
I do a fall unit that I love!!! We start by doing a thinking rountine like Think, Puzzle, Explore, or a KWL and reading a quick books. We then do a fall walk where the students use their 5 senses to "take in" fall. We have a seasons book where we write a sentence for each sense (we even put a food that we taste in fall). We use these sentences (along with a topic and conclusion) to write a descriptive paragraph. I have a worksheet where the kids color, cut, and put leaves in ABC order. I found a sheet a long time ago (not sure where) that is called Observe a Leaf. We use this sheet to do a mini report. I also do a leaf rubbing (the students picked up leaves on our walk, we put them under a piece of white paper and use fall colors to color over them, the paper can have NO white when they are finished). I do more stuff like this, but fingers hurt!
