How long are your faculty meetings and how often do you have them?

At my NC school they were 45 minutes once a month. The beginning of the year meeting was about 4 hours, sometimes longer, and the end of the year meeting was typically 2-4 hours as well.

Where I was an LTS meetings were held every other week for 30 minutes.

New school- I was just informed that we have a 2 hour meeting on Wednesday. I don't know how frequent they are yet. 2 hours just seems like a long time!!

We have a staff meeting once / week. It's a very small school, so P, teachers, TAs, 1 counselor and the psychologist is there. Sometimes it's an hour, sometimes 2 or even more. It depends on what needs to be discussed, it never seems like a waste of time though.

Staff meetings are once a month for an hour and 45 minutes. They often include some sort of pd as well. We also have pd for 60 minutes every Monday, but this is during regular contract time. It's a "late start" day for the kids.

Once a month for an hour, but they are frequently canceled and we are given work time if there is nothing to discuss.

Once a month, 20-45 min. We usually have 1-2 emergency faculty meetings per year too.

To add...our meeting dates for the year are set at the beginning of the school year. If they need to be cancelled for any reason they are usually not rescheduled.

2 per month. No longer than 45 minutes per our contract. We are given the schedule in Sept. Cancelled meetings are not rescheduled. PLC meetings once a month for each grade levels which last 3 hours.

All school (K-12) are twice monthly for about 90 minutes. Meetings for my building only are usually twice monthly for 45 minutes. We also have department meetings 2-4x monthly. We also have 4 pd days, all day (no school for students).

Twice a week...once on our own time and once during contracted time for a total of usually an hour and a half. But in reality, they're cancelled a lot. :)

We don't have regular scheduled meetings. We usually have them on a teacher work day before or after a break. They last 15 minutes at the most. We are getting a lot of information by email every day so there's not a whole lot to talk about at meetings.

Our staff meetings are weekly, after contracted school hours, for anywhere from 45 minutes-2 hours. Sometimes this will include a PD, but usually not.

Head has a biweekly teacher time when we can come and discuss things. Its optional, but most attend start and end of term + report time. Otherwise, we are left to arrange what we need ourselves - some teachers are happy to rely on report books, others E-mail, most enjoy convenient coffee brakes to compare plans.
I worked in one place where meetings were 4 hours every week, total waste of time! One place 15 minutes a week which seems OK, but I had a class then and always missed vital stuff. One place didn't bother at all which was definitely the worst!
I like the present system, plenty of feedback and cross planning without wasting anyone's time.

Once a month, about 45 minutes. It's part of our contracted time to attend these meetings once a month therefore they can't go over the 45 minutes.

old admin~once a month for about 90 mins - 2 hours of foolishness w/ grade level meetings every two weeks for 30 mins. PD days, about four a year were also filled with nonsense.

new admin~We have only had two this year for about 45 mins each. GLM every week for 15-30 mins depending on the topic. PD days this year have all been beneficial.

Once a month for 45 minutes to an hour. Occasionally they are twice a month but rarely.

Normally everyone can make it and lunch is provided.

Students have early dismissal every Wednesday (out at 12:45 instead of 2:05), so we have a lot of meetings every Wednesday. But they're not all just staff meetings. They rotate and include: learning team, data team, data collection, staff meetings, technology meetings, and accreditation meetings (when we were going through it). The meetings start at 1 and go until either 3 or 3:30 each Wednesday.

We are scheduled for no less than 5-6 hours per month, which is at least once per week (usually it ends up that one week we have 2, and one week we have none) although they almost always go long. I don't know of anything other than maybe a PLC that lasts only 1 hour.

One a month, before school, for 40 minutes. Personally, I HATE trying to school that early-I'm on my own in the morning with an 18 month old, and getting up 40 minutes earlier just never seems to work in reality.

We also have early release every Thursday, so we have an extra hour those days. Sometimes they are grade level/work days, but many times there are Common Core topics or guest speakers. I love it.
