First two days of school + going to bed at midnight + getting up at 5:00am = 1 exhausted teacher

I know exactly what you mean!

And I'm sure THAT'S the reason I can't find my thumb drive-- the one that has ALL the NHS stuff I need on it.

If it doesn't turn up by tonight, I think I'll have to retype all 200 or so names. Oh, joy!

I like that you are giving yourself until midnight. Lol. That says you are getting PLENTY of sleep. NOT!

We've been back over a month, and I'm still tired. We have had a huge number of after-school activities. For the last two weeks I have had something going on after work nearly every day. I have been going to bed between 9:30 and 11:00, but I never fall aslee until midnight or later. I do get to sleep until 6:30, though.

Tired too.... It seems like something is DUE or has to be turned in or has to be made or some committee has to meet or that there is SOMETHING on my plate at every planning and after school every day. The upside? Weekends. ha ha! Just kidding, I seriously love what I do!

I picked up 2 coffees on the way in to work this morning. I think I'll be in bed by about 8:00pm tonight. (The midnight was because of Lauren's last soccer game--we pulled into the driveway at 11:53!)

I almost had a breakdown the other morning- I just feel like if I don't micromanage my time and plan every detail, stuff won't get done. And I don't have kids!

14 hours Tues
12 hours Wed.
10 hours today then night class - starting the new afternoon job today

No air conditioning and too hot to sleep.

Feeling good about things but my hips are killing me from standing too much and I know I will "die" this weekend.

You know we got into teaching for all that off time.

I slipped in the bathroom Tuesday and pulled a muscle in my groin. I almost did a split! It hurts. UG, standing sucks this week. I am a little bit glad we have a "flood day" today.

It must be one of those weeks--I was bending over to talk with a student, and walked headfirst right into the doorframe. I have a nice goose-egg, but thankfully it's on the side my bangs are on!

My first week exhaustion has lasted the first month this year...

Well, I found my thumb drive :)!!!! (Even though I searched my book bag at least 6 times, it was there at the bottom when I looked before homeroom. Thank you, Saint Anthony!!!!

The exhaustion will fade; it always does. But these first weeks are just so tiring!

Yesterday I had a meeting till after 6, was out buying school supplies till about 7:30, came home and did the mommy thing (PB&J for dinner-- Pete took the kids to Taco Bell.) Then I wrote a NHS email and spent an hour trying to find that thumb drive . I didn't take off my pantyhose till at least 10 pm.

Now because we got out early because of flooding, I already have 2 classes that will be off track from the other classes. It's too early in the year for that!

Obviously my exhaustion has settled in my fingers. The title of the post I just made is gibberish...I guess I'd better not write anything too important tonight.

Listen to these podcasts anytime you need a moment to just calm your mind and really relax. I fall asleep to these if I'm listening to them on my phone and lying down. They're that relaxing. I haven't been on here much because I am not working at a school so dont have much to say. I'm hoping to tutor a few kids this year to earn some income!

So glad you found your thumb drive! I lost mine for almost 12 weeks last fall. I found it, in my book bag, in a pocket that I know I had checked several times. But I found it & you found yours!

As a practice, I'm not. Last night my daughter had her last soccer game of the season--a 9:00pm start makes for a late night!

It's now 7:40, and I'm heading up to get into my jammies soon!

What a late time for a soccer game! Well, at least you can rest now. I am wishing you lots and lots and lots of sleep tonight.

It's taking me way too long to get used to being back to work. Usually by the end of pre-service week I'm fine. This group of students (grade level-wide, not just my babies) is a ROUGH group, so I know that hasn't helped.

Alice, may I suggest dropbox as an alternative. I use it now for all my school files.

I may do that one of these days when I'm capable of intelligent thought again. Thands Brendan.

But for now, it's going to live in the zipped compartment of my book bag :)

I've started doing that too and I love it! I'm trying to get my Special Ed partners on board, so that I can stop emailing them files, but it hasn't worked yet.

Glad you found your thumb drive, Alice! One of my grade 8 students showed up on the first day of school to return one that I had loaned to her sister (who is now in grade 9) last spring!

I was so exhausted last night I fell asleep in front of the TV around 9:00. When the phone rang, I tried to answer the remote.

When I left work today, I couldn't figure out why my car wouldn't unlock. Then I realized I was waving my school entry key card in front of the door handle... not pressing the unlock button on my car key.

I may need a nap.

The other day I tried to open someone else's car. I wasn't tired. Just that not many people have an orange cube and for there to be two of them in the same tiny lot, I assumed it was mine. I had my kids try too. All of us were confused. It didn't dawn on any of us that it was simply the wrong car.

And I thought it was because I hadn't worked since last October. Our bodies have to adjust to being on our feet all day.

Alice, I'm glad you didn't have to retype all those names.

I GOT into someone else's car! It was dark, they must not have locked it, either that or my key fob unlocked it. As soon as I sat down I knew it wasn't my car.

My grandma told me the story about fully loading her groceries into the wrong car and couldn't understand why the key wouldn't fit into the ignition. The man who owned the car saw the whole thing and was waiting for her to figure it out. Her car was ironically only like 2 cars down or next to it or something like that. I can't quite remember that part of the story. The man got a laugh out of it then moved the groceries to her car for her.

Could you imagine being the real owner of the car and how freaked out you would be if you saw someone else sitting in your car?

I think as soon as my butt hit the seat it was going right back up! That seat didn't feel right at all. I'm sure the owner would have been freaked out to see me in his/her car!
