I just watched this video and I just wish I could remember her words every day. I don't think I'll ever be as on fire and animated as she is, but I love her philosophy especially when it comes to dealing with those kids I just didn't like. Remembering that they come to school each day for that relationship with you even if they don't say it or act to the contrary.

That was amazing. I watched it twice. I feel that, as a student teacher, this is the kind of philosophy I want in my classroom. When I'm a teacher, I would love to make a sign of her saying about being powerful and post it for the kids to see.

We watched that for our opening of department PD. It may be my favorite TED Talk ever. A lot of teachers are starting off with that mindset. Hoping I can maintain it.

Awesome! My P has the same mindset, and she tells us almost every day that most of our kids come to school because of the relationship they have with us. At least half of them don't care about learning, but they feel safe, and value what we have together.

Rita Pierson was a great lady. This is one of my favorite TED talks.

I'm glad I got to see her in person. We were shocked to learn she died shortly after speaking at my school.

Loved the part about "Kids don't learn from people they don't like".
