I spent the past 2 years working as an ESL English teacher in Beijing, China. When I first arrived in Beijing, the recruiter helped me find a training school English teacher position. I was forced to work on the weekend, not mention the work load. It was really not a good experience. When I completed this contract, I signed another contract with PKU College Kindergarten, which is also located in Beijing. Kids were only 2-6 years old. I had to teach 6 Classes every day. Each class is around 30 minutes. Payment was good, they also provided nice apartment. School is beautiful, they really engaged in introducing international education to their kids and community. They celebrate every western holiday, parties for thanksgiving, Christmas and so on. All our foreign stuff would receive small gifts. I was really impressed by the school graduation ceremony; kids were dressed in the cap and gown, like they were graduating from their universities. Anyway, the air pollution in Beijing is really terrible. The smog made me sick. Some of my friends got infected. Right now, I back home for some relax, but will relocate some other cities in China in the future.
My friend told me there were millions of schools in China are looking for foreign teachers. It’s very easy to find an ESL teacher jobs in China, but visa process is difficult and takes long time. He suggested some cities like Guangzhou, Qingdao and Yantai. Also he suggested finding schools through recruiting company. Do you have any recommendations?
Many American private preschools have real caps, gowns, & tassels for their Pre-K graduations as well!
Hi there, I was successfully got a Z visa from PKU College Kindergarten. It takes around 2 months to obtain one. As I know you have to get a criminal background check, a TEFL/TESOL certificate and Bachelor degree, then you will be fine. The TEFL/TESOL you can take online curriculum, if you don’t have one. But I think you can probably study one within 1 month. Guangzhou is in the south China, Yantai and Qingdao are beautiful coastal cities in Shandong province. These 3 cities are really good choice.
I’ve searched online; found out that the PKU College Kindergarten is a group, it also have campuses in Qingdao and Yantai. Will you recommend that?
I’ve never been to the Qingdao and Yantai schools before, but I met and talked with the foreign teachers in the training program. They were fine with both the kindergarten. They were so happy with the school curriculums. It’s easy to access and kids are really like the curriculum. I would say, if you want to be a real teacher respected by your students, PKU kindergarten is not a bad choice.
