I'm in my first year teaching and everything was pretty much going long very smoothly until now. I just received word (the bells about to ring in five minutes) that I'm receiving a student into my classroom with extremely limited english. I know I should run a diagnostic exam and such but if he can't read the word problems or problems how can I expect him to take it? So I guess how have all of you adopted students of limited english into your classroom with out he or she feeling like a total outsider? Thanks!
