Is anyone doing an end of the year slideshow? If you are what music are you using? The 2 I like are What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and Let Them Be Little by Billy Dean.
I am also doing a slide show. I haven't decided for sure, but I'm thinking "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts or "Amazing" by Janelle. There was also some cute kids songs on iTunes like "Celebration", and "Graduation" (I'm kinder and we do a graduation)
Oh I just thought of something that I will have to remember to do next year. When my son was in 6th grade his teacher made a video clip of his class running out of the front doors of the school. She played the video clip to part of the Monkees Theme Song...you know Hey, hey with the Monkees.... It was the cutest thing ever! Now just to remember it for next year! Maybe I can still fit it in this year, I'll have to see.
Good Riddance - Green day I think it might have some language issues at the very beginning, but if you can edited that it's a great song
I hope you Dance is one of the ones I'm using. (It's Lee Ann Womack.) I'm also using KC and the Sunshine Band with "Boogie Shoes" (It's a joke on some of my kids - I play it in class all the time!) I'll probably use some Harry Connick, Jr. too, the kids love him. I haven't decided for sure. I'm going to pull some from some of my Radio Disney CDs too (You've got a Friend in Me, etc).
What kind of celebration are you guys doing to play the slideshows? I have a TON of pictures and it sounds like a great idea. I'm just not sure what to do with the parents (if they would even show up).
I plan on having it play on the last day of school. We have a picnic and there are a lot of parents around. I also have no problem burning a copy for any parent that wants one to keep.
Do you have to check with the other parents about giving out their child's image? I have no idea, but the idea just occurred to me.
We sure do, I get a release from each parent at the beginning of the year. It is very thorough,it gives me permission to use their child's picture and work in all media types including my web site. Every year I have one or 2 where the parents don't want them included.
It is a touchy situation with some parents. I do respect their wishes, actually legally I have to. This year I only have one little girl that can't participate because of an adoption issue. She is so good about it. Whenever I take pictures she asks if it is an OK picture for her to be in. If it is a picture that I am just using in the classroom then she can be in it.
What about copyright issues as far as the music goes?? Does anyone what legal issues we might run into by using songs as part of a presentation? We are currently creating a PowerPoint of memories for our outgoing 5th graders. Our librarian has been adamant about us not using songs in it... nice!! So, I am trying to gather information to support our use.
Yes there are copyright issues here. From what I understand you are not supposed to use copyrighted songs. There are many sites available where you can get songs that are not copyrighted. I have a list of them at school.
