What are some easy programs to use for end of the year videos?
Photostory is pretty simple to use! It comes loaded on our school computers already, so I don't know how much it costs. Basically you just put in your pictures, set the timing and add the music. Easy! Our kids make videos with it a lot, and they generally don't have any issues with it.
I'm pretty sure photo story isn't supported by microsoft anymore - and hasn't since Windows XP, but I believe that Photo Story can still technically be installed on Vista/7
But it is free.
iMovie and Powerpoint can do slideshows easily.
For open house, I just put all the pictures in a folder (pc), opened the first picture and clicked the circle at the bottom of the screen. That starts a slideshow of all the pictures in the folder. Then I played Spotify in the background. That wouldn't work if you were passing it out, but it's good enough to play for an assembly or parents!
I use Movie Maker.
Animoto - it's an online program. It used to be free for educators, not sure if it still is.
Animoto is still free for educators. Just Google "animoto educators." I just did it a couple days ago for about the 7th time.
