I am looking for a song that I can sing with my class at the end of the day, I would like something that would not require music. I would love to hear lots of different suggestions.
We sing "Children, Children What do you Say, What was your favorite thing today?" We go around in the circle saying what our favorite thing was. We don't do it everyday but in the beginning of the year we do. The kids enjoy it.
I sing skiddy-merinky-dinky-dink (oops, I can't remember how it's spelled) with my kids. It's a sweet song and they love it! I cried like a baby the last time we sang this song together on the last day of school!!!
Adios Amigos (to the tune of Itsy-Bitsy Spider) Adios Amigos, Adios my friends Hasta Luego, until we meet again We've had a good day but now our time must end So Adios Amigos, adios my friends There was a cute song/chant that the music teacher used to sing. It starts out "See you later, alligator. After a while, crocodile." Then there was something about a "mashed patater" I can't remember the words and it was really cute! Anyone else ever heard of it?
The one I have heard and will probably use this year is: The Goodbye Chant See you later alligator Bye Bye Butterfly Be sweet parakeet Blow a kiss jellyfish Give a hug ladybug Out the door dinosaur Take care polar bear See you soon raccoon So long King Kong Goodbye, said the fly
Hi Hope037. It is cute, hu? I got this from a Kindergarten workshop and there was no tune that went with it, it's more like a poem or chant.
Dr. Jean has a cute song. I can't remember all the words, but it's something like... I had a good day, I had a great day! Pat yourself on the back. I had a good day, I had a great day! Kiss your brain. I had a good day, I had a great day! Wave goodbye to your friends. It's to La Cucuracha! Kelly
We sing: Oh it's time for us to say goodbye (goodbye) Oh it's time for us to say goodbye (goodbye) Oh it's time for us to say, that we'll talk another day Oh it's time for us to say goodbye (goodbye) When they echo the goodbyes we clap 2 times for the syllables good-bye
I do the same chant as minnie, except the lines are changed a bit. I do it as an echo chant (I say it and then they repeat) and we act out each line. See you later alligator (arms out front big clapping motion) Bye Bye Butterfly (lock hands together to make butterfly wings) Blow a kiss jelly fish (everyone blows a kiss) Give a hug ladybug (hug yourself) See ya soon racoon (make racoon eyes by putting fingers around them) So long King Kong (beat your chest) Take care polar bear (hands on hips..BIG DEEP VOICE) Goodbye said the fly (Little tiny voice with a little bitty wave) Out the door dinosaur (Point to the door......and out they go)
If you visit Mrs. Bainbridge's website and click on "For Teachers," she has a print-out of the cute animal good-bye chant. I laminated it and have it hung on our classroom door. http://www.teacherweb.com/mi/centralelementaryschool/mrsbainbridge/ Bev http://teacherweb.com/NM/PajaritoElementary/BeverlyRomero/
I sing the following I think the tune is Shoo-Fly don't bother me Now it's time to say goodbye, say goodbye, say goodbye. Now it's time to say goodbye, I'll see you ________ morning. I had fun, how about you? I had fun, how about you? I had fun how about you? I'll see you _______ morning. I fill in the blank with the day of the week. I know I have done this song along time because children from four years ago have come back and sang the song to me
I love this!!!! You always have the best ideas!!! I just want you to know that I use the story about the monster and then we all create the monsters we don't want to be (we do this the first week of school) and keep it up on our bulletin board for a few weeks. Keep those fabulous ideas comin'!!!
Could you repost the monster story title? I missed that one. Thanks! Bev http://www.teacherweb.com/NM/PajaritoElementary/BeverlyRomero/
Hi Bev! I don't have the story at home, but it is about a monster who goes to school and doesn't know how to behave. We then discuss what the monster did and how he should have behaved at school. There are four monster patterns and each child gets one to decorate. After decorating and cutting them out, I hang them up on the bulletin board. These are "The Monsters We Don't Want To Be". I leave them up for a few weeks as a reminder of how we should act at school.
Awwwwwww, you are sweet! I can't take credit for coming up with it....just embellished it a bit! And I leave my monsters up all year!! The kids love when I FINALLY send them home the last week. They laugh at how they colored them when they were "so young".....lol Don't you just love kindergarten???
No, the story is just on a sheet of paper. I am not sure of the title. All of my things are in my closet at school, so I can't even check to see the name of it. :sorry:
I can't think of the tune this song goes with at the moment... I can totally sing it in my head though.... so thats a lot of help. Anyways the words are Goodbye friends, Goodbye friends, goodbye friends, we'll see you again on ______ (next day the children will be in class ie, Monday, Tuesday)
I use that song. My kids love it! I had a very social group, so they all waved goodbye and hugged each other to death on some days.
I can't remember where it came from, but it goes to the tune of "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain" It is time to say good-bye to all our friends It is time to say good-bye to all our friends It is time to say good bye Give a smile and wink your eye It is time to say good bye to all our friends Yee-haw!! We have a few, but this song is always a favorite!
