It's been an amazing year...and I've gained so much insight from this site.

I have a kind of last request (for this school year)---

I need good "silent and/or very quiet" classroom games to play until we get the "all clear" for the end of EOGs tomorrow and the next day.

I'll spare you my diatribe on over-testing these young'uns.

You all SO rock! Best wishes in these last few weeks!!

My kids loved playing silent speedball (not so speedy, really) with a beach ball between our tests.

I've played that with my kids before too, only we called it quiet ball...no talking allowed, just eye contact with the person you want to catch the ball. Koosh balls also work well.

    Dead Fish

My kids love the game Dead Fish. Everyone except for one person gets into a comfortable position. They are not allowed to move or talk (except to breathe and blink). The other person tries to get people to move/laugh/talk etc. If they do, they are out, and help to try to get others to"break". Last person who doesn't move or talk wins.

The last time we played this they didn't want to stop!

This is wonderful and hilarious! And I think it will work well with the kids tomorrow.
These testing days have been rather brutal...We have one more tomorrow, and it's a particularly long one.

Where in Canada do you teach?

    Question Game is fun...

kids sit in a circle, one turns to the kid next to them and asks a question. Any question... the more bizarre the better. Then that kid turns to te next kid and asks a different question, who asks the next kid a different question. If you answer a question, you're out. If you repeat a question, you're out. If it takes you too long to come up with a question, you're out. I've played this with kids from about 2nd grade on up. It's hilarious to see what they come up with... the wierder the question, the more fun it is.

We'd play it as a counselor game at camp. The question "why is your belly button lint blue?" was almost always a guaranteed winner :)

I teach in PEI. A really small school in the country - I love it - the ocean is right beside us, the beach 5 minutes away (not that I can do that during teaching hours!!) How did the game go?
